Tommy Powers  joined the Florida Panthers Hockey Club in 2014 as the Strength and Conditioning Coach after spending two seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes. Before joining the Coyotes, he spent 4 years training elite athletes at the world renowned Duckett Performance Centre in Calgary, Alberta.  He provided personal and specialized training for NHL, AHL, NCAA and Major Junior hockey players. Also under his direction were several Olympic, professional, and elite amateur athletes from figure skating, tennis, golf, and skiing.

Tommy played Division 1 College Hockey for the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
During his time at UMass, Tommy graduated with an exercise physiology and nutrition degree. He possesses a variety of certifications, most notably the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certificate from the NSCA, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist certificate from the NASM, and a Level 4 certification for Ki-Hara Resistance Stretching through Innovative Body Solutions.

In 2011 Tommy founded his own company called, “Empowers Performance”. He is the President, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, and Nutritionist at Empowers Performance, the home of the leading summer training and off-season hockey camps for NHL and elite amateur hockey players. Every detail of the programs offered from musculoskeletal functional assessments, to individualized training programs and nutritional plans, are designed and led by Tommy with support from a carefully selected group of professional coaches, doctors, and other expert personnel.

He uses his knowledge, experience and training to improve athletes’ performance and help them excel in their respective fields.
